The practice
An invitation to the mat, and a holistic path to the self
While my classes incorporate elements of Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Restorative Yoga, our foundation remains anchored in the traditional limbs of Hatha Yoga.
The foundations of Hatha
Asanas
Conscious physical postures.
Shatkarma
The six traditional cleansing techniques (kriyas) of Hatha Yoga.
Pranayama
Breath regulation: mastery of the breath and life force.
Mudras
Meaningful energetic gestures.
Bandhas
Energetic locks (mula, uddiyana and jalandhara) that direct the flow of prana.
The ultimate goal
समाधिSamadhi: absolute absorption
The union of individual and universal consciousness. While this final stage is a lifelong journey often guided by true Yogacharyas, I welcome open dialogue on these deeper spiritual dimensions as we practice together.
A 55-minute class
Sample daily sadhana
Each session follows a deliberate arc, from settling the mind to integrating the practice into the rest of your day.
Opening & Centering
We begin with mental preparation by internalising our thoughts, stilling the mind to create a focused space.
Warm Up & Awakening
Gentle movements to loosen the joints and mobilise the muscles, ensuring an injury-free and fluid transition into a deeper practice.
Surya Namaskara
Honouring tradition through rhythmic Hatha and Ashtanga A & B sun salutations.
Asana Practice
A targeted exploration of flexibility, strength and balance. Through standing, sitting, supine, kneeling, twisting, balancing and inversions we engage the core, back and limbs to build a resilient physical foundation.
Pranayama
Vital breath work, occasionally integrated with kriyas or shatkarma techniques to purify the energetic channels.
Closing & Integration
We conclude with intentional recovery: carrying focused awareness, planting a positive intention and gratitude into the subconscious for restorative rest and a productive day ahead.
